Having acquired the site in 2022, this project is our first Passivhaus housing development. The scheme, which comprises of 17 houses arranged across five blocks, is currently under construction on the behalf of Barcud Housing Association, with an expected handover of September 2025.
The site, which only partly sits within the development boundary, was acquired with planning permission for 5 large, detached housing. Upon reviewing the consent, there were concerns regarding the low level of density and we decided to extend the site outside of the development boundary and submitted an alternative fully affordable scheme.
Despite being our first housing project, many of the key details and lessons from our Passivhaus apartment schemes have been applied. We continue to iterate and improve our twin wall system, improving both constructibility and air tightness.
